Low Testosterone & Obesity

If you have low testosterone levels it may very well be because you are overweight.

You might not think that the 2 things would be linked, but they in fact are. Check our the article from NPR.

It is in fact a top indicator of men with Low T. That is, if a guy has Low T , chances are he is obese.

But why is this so? The fatty tissue in our body and particularly in our abdominal region, well turn any testosterone into estradiol. This is the female hormone. So not only are you losing testosterone, you are gaining female hormones. Probably not what you were looking for, right?

Can losing weight help bring back testosterone levels? You bet. In fact, one study on men who had bariatric surgery found that when their weight dropped, their testosterone increased. This is very good news! Well, unless you have no intentions of losing the extra weight.

The only real way to know if you suffer from low testosterone is by a test from your doctor. You may have symptoms such as: fatigue, less interest in sex, weight gain, loss of muscle mass, etc. But the only way to know for sure is via a blood test.

Make sure you know about this blood test though. Don’t have your doctor test your levels in the middle of the afternoon and give you results.

Why is this? Did you know that your testosterone levels are the highest in the morning? Actually, they are highest between 8 am – 10 am.

So if your doctor tests you at 3 pm and says you have low testosterone, I would request a follow up test in the morning hours.

In fact, no matter what you should have 2 tests to confirm results since these levels fluctuate so much.

As a matter of fact, testosterone is a hormone that goes high to low more so than any other hormone. So to take one value and diagnose is not truly accurate.

Keep informed and you are always better off!

Here is a video that talks about how testosterone supplements can help obese men lose weight.

Depo-Testosterone

Depo-Testosterone are simply testosterone shots. Men take them to deal with reduced levels of the hormone testosterone. Occasionally an adolescent boy might have his puberty delayed and he may gain from such injections. Some other times to utilize these shots may be if a male struggles with erectile dysfunction or other hormonal imbalances.

Remarkably enough it has also been prescribed to ladies as one alternative for treating breast cancer cells that have actually spread through her body.

What about any side effects?

Usual side effects of the hormone injections consist of nausea and stomach upset, throwing up, headache, increased/decreased libido, oily skin and acne breakouts, hair thinning, and discomfort at the shot location.

The dose for a Depo-Testosterone Injection will be calculated based upon the age of the individual, their sex, and the particular diagnosis given by the doctor.

Your physician will certainly tell you to contact him or her if you have any complications after having the injection. Some things that might be concerning are: swelling (especially of the face and neck), rapid weight gain, hives (or other serious hypersensitive skin response), increased peeing, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or the skin), an unpleasant, raised, or ongoing erection that does not go away, problems with breathing, harsh nausea and throwing up, and belly discomfort, amplified thirstiness, memory loss or disorientation, and a drastic loss of desire for food.

Ladies that have actually been prescribed testosterone treatments can end up having solid male attributes. These attributes might be permanent with continued testosterone therapy.

Your shot-of-testosterone_optdoctor will also want to speak with you if you experience any of the following: unexpected start of acne (when it was not an issue prior to hand), male pattern hair loss, modifications in menstruations, hair growth on the chin or on the breast, a boost or a reduction in libido, and an enhancement of the clitoris.

If these aren’t bad enough, here are some other adverse effects that a person might experience: sadness, anxiousness, migraines.

Listed above is in no way a thorough selection of every one of the negative effects and you may experience others.

Mention to your medical professional if you experience anything strange or bothering. Testosterone shots need to come with the direct supervision of your healthcare professional.

Need to Lose Weight?

Why is it so dang hard to lose weight?

Well, when you think about it logically it make sense. If you are overweight, you are carrying around a lot of extra ‘stuff’. This make you tire out faster. If you are tired, you are not going to want to workout. The problem is that working out is the only way you are going to lose weight. Well you can certainly lose weight by cutting calories, but that alone will not do it. You have to move your body.

Here is a double-wammy! If you are overweight then your testosterone levels are lower. When this happens, you have less energy (so you don’t want to workout). You also lose muscle faster and muscle is what you need to burn fat.

Many guys don’t know that if they are overweight that they have lower testosterone. Not only that, being overweight can cause your testosterone to turn into the female hormone.

Here is the thing, if you are overweight, you have to lose it. It might be tough, it might take some time, you might not like it, but you have to do it.

Just start somewhere. You don’t have to start out running a marathon or bench pressing massive amounts. You just have to start. Even if you start out at 10 minutes a day. Just be consistent and build up. You might be tired and not want to do it, but you will feel better and more accomplished if you at least do something. You will find that as time goes on, you will have more and more energy and you will want to go out there are lift more, move your body more.

You will see progress and that will keep you motivated. It all starts with one step.

And when you do, your testosterone levels can bounce back! That means you are not out of luck forever if you weigh too much right now. There is still time.

If you are in doubt (of being overweight or having low testosterone), simply go to your doctor and find out. There are tests that he or she can do to help you.

Losing weight will bring you so many benefits. You will have more energy, more stamina and of course you will look so much better. Do it for yourself.

Natural Plants for Medicine

Chris Kilham has been called ‘The Medicine Hunter’. He goes around the world investigating plants and herbs that are used in the region for medicinal purposes. Throughout the years he has found many plants that can improve our life sexually.

These plants have been used as aphrodisiacs for centuries and they are all natural. And what is cool is that he talks about Tongkat Ali (which is of course Eurycoma longifolia)!

Here is the list of herbs that he talks about that offers enhancements to your sex life

He talks about:

Maca – this is a plant that is native to Peru.

Tongkat Ali – we know about this one. If you need a refresher go here.

Rhodiola Rosea – this is a plant that is native to Central Asia and it is used to incrase energy and stamina and to improve athletic performance.

Chuchuhuasi – I have never heard of this one, but it is native to Amazon rainforest and is used for arthritis and back pain.

Horny Goat Weed – we have talked about this one too. It comes from China.

You can check out the video of him talking about these herbs below.

Do You Lose Energy Throughout The Day?

It seems so many people are low on energy. How many times do you ask someone how they are and they say, ‘I’m tired’ or ‘exhausted’ or ‘ready for the weekend so I can relax’. This is a shame. We need all the energy we can get.

What many people don’t realize however is that lots of things that they do everyday takes away their energy. If you know these things ahead of Loss of energytime, then you are better able to fight the battle against low energy.

Here are a few to watch out for:

Missing Meals

This is a big no-no for everyone. Your caloric intake fuels your body and if you don’t give your body what it needs then you will find yourself low on energy. Probably the most important meal is breakfast. It is essential that you do not skip this meal. In fact, most of your calories should be earlier in the day when you use energy and need them.

Fatty Foods

Foods that are high in fat (think fast food) stay in your stomach for longer than other foods and make you feel sluggish. They actually alter the amount of blood that goes to your brain and muscles.

Meals that are high in complex carbohydrates (the good stuff) releases energy slowly which is helpful for workouts. This is how your body prefers it and how it works optimally.

Caffeine

OK relax, I am not going to say that you have to give up coffee. Not at all actually. The problem with coffee is too much coffee. If you drink coffee all day long they you might have an unhealthy addition and your body needs the coffee for any sort of energy. The problem is that coffee only provides very short term energy.

Just like most other things, moderation is the key. A couple cups of coffee is fine (depending on your body weight), but depending on it is not good.

Things to do if you are a bit addicted to the rush from coffee: go out for a brisk walk in the sunshine. This will give you some energy. You can also take a powernap. These are actually very good and a lot of successful people take powernaps during the day. We are talking 10-20 minutes – not hours. Also, drinking water will actually give you a boost of energy that you may need. You can add a healthy snack to that too if you need it. You kick-start your metabolism when you eat a proper breakfast.

Alcohol

We are not saying you can’t enjoy a beer or a glass of wine every now and then, but it is important to understand what you are doing to your body and mind when you do. Alcohol disrupts your sleep and reduces the amount of REM sleep; it dehydrates your body, and adds unneeded and unproductive calories to your diet. Just know what you are doing when you drink and always keep your consumption in moderation.

Lack of Vitamin B

Most of us know how important Vitamin B is. If you don’t, well you do now. It is essential in the release of energy. If you eat properly, then you should get enough vitamin B in your diet. You can find it in bread, meat, fish, greens, dairy, and cereal. You can take a supplement if you are low in this vitamin.

Not getting enough sleep

Sleep is essential to our well being. That is no surprise. Most of us need 8-9 hours of sleep and if we don’t get it for extended periods of time, our mind and body suffer. You may not even realize it. Your body reacts and responds differently when it is well rested and this includes your muscles. Muscles need rest in order to heal and grow. All of these together impact your energy and stamina.

Being Overweight

If you have ever been a few pounds heavier in your life than you are now, you might know how carrying around extra weight is very different than carrying around healthy weight. Your entire being has to work harder. Your heart has to work harder, you breath heavier, etc. All of this tires you out much faster. If you are overweight, you are hurting your energy and stamina. Once you drop a few pounds you will feel the difference and will hopefully keep motivated to keep going.

There are other things that can steal your energy and stamina (for example, stress), but these are the big ones to watch out for. They are things that you can take care of too.

Resistance Training Part 2

Last time we talked about the great benefits that you can expect from training with weights. Now we are going to look at some basic nutritional needs that your body requires as you work out so hard.

Looking for the perfect dietary supplement is very tricky business. There are quite a number that are recommended. It can be a lot for one person to digest. You may know a lot about supplements and nutrition already, but you can always learn more.

One thing that you want to keep in mind is that you want to start out slow. Your body needs time to adjust to the changes that you are putting it through and if you add more changes with tons of supplements, it might not react well. Some people would be surprised by the reactions that you can have to some of the supplements available.

Just be sure you know what your body needs.

One thing that many people can benefit from is more omega-3 fatty acid. This is good oil or fat. It helps your body in many ways including your heart. I can also help with post-workouts as your body and muscles may require some sort of anti-inflammation property and this proves to work well. You can get this supplement at any local store.

Protein drinks are another very popular item. You know that in order to build muscles you need your protein. Well when you are working out hard, you need even more. Some guys like to have a shake before working out and this is fine, but just make sure the protein you have is not heavy. Whatever you consume, be it carbs or protein should digest in your body quickly. If not, your workout will drag and you will not have proper energy and motivation to get through it.

So many weight trainers use a supplement called creatine. You may have heard of it and you have probably heard good things. It helps build up muscle which is of course what everyone wants. You should look into it to see if it is something that might work for you. It can be used by beginners and those more advanced.

Finally you need to makes sure you have appropriate levels of vitamin d for the health of your bones. This is something that many of us often forget about, but we shouldn’t overlook this important vitamin. It is easy to get, easy to take and the benefits are important. You really should consider it.

For the beginner, this is a great and simple start. You really don’t need much more until you really get more advanced in your routines. At that point, you might want to look into additional supplements.
